EventCow is working with the Forest of Hearts to create an innovative and inspiring Garden of Wellbeing at Stratford upon Avon Hospital. In a unique partnership with the Forest of Hearts and South Warwickshire Foundation Trust we will build an edible community garden which will be enjoyed by thousands of visitors, patients, staff and volunteers whilst growing food for the Wellbeing Hub cafe. You can get involved in four exciting ways as we aim to take action towards four of the global sustainable development goals.

Help us create Honey Bee WoodWe've had a busy few weeks at EventCow, with team building events at The National Space Centre, Wroxall Abbey and Warwick. Now with our favourite charity Forest of Hearts and Graduate Planet we are helping to create Honey Bee Wood and you can get involved by joining us to plant 1000 trees in one day on 1st December. You can also meet David Bradley the much beloved Caretaker from the Harry Potter and Games of Thrones Walder Frey. Teambuilding with a purpose with the Forest of HeartsWe have worked with some wonderful teams who have made a real difference by helping to create the new forest garden in Stratford upon Avon with the Forest of Hearts. From planting a herb garden in giant tractor tyres, building bee hotels, painting the education centre and generally providing much needed volunteer support. Contact us now for your CSR team event. It's been a busy week at the Forest of Hearts with the creation of two show gardens in straw bales and clearing of the onion shed at Anne Hathaway's Cottage ready for our Harvest Share project. Watch out details of that and our "GreenHaus"...coming soon... The enterprising team from NCS Challenge raise much needed funds for the Forest of Hearts and create two show gardens on the site at Stratford upon Avon. Here they are in fancy dress in Leamington Spa spreading the word about the new Stratford upon Avon Forest Garden. The inspiring message which prompts many local residents to show their support is that the garden will be completely accessible and open to all.
BIG thanks to Budget Skips in Evesham who donated 4 tonnes of soil to the project. Andy seen below delivering the soil tells us that our site was once considered as the venue for the British Grand Prix before Silverstone was chosen. We think that a Forest Garden is a better attraction though! A team of enthusiastic and energetic young people work with the Forest of Hearts and our new apprentices to design and create a Fruit Tree Guild Show Garden. A soil test carried out by the teams, led by Frank Head from Jaguar Land Rover reveals that the soil is neutral and perfect for planting over 100 types of edible plants, shrubs and trees. This week has brought so many generous volunteers into the open and into our field! We salute the people who want to do something useful by planting hedgerows in our new 5 acre forest garden near to Stratford upon Avon. Also, we are grateful to the army of people who are involved in creating edible gardens for good. It's at times like this that you know you are making a difference. Special thanks this week goes to Stuart at Firefly AI for his brilliant aerial shots of a forest garden in the making. If you would like to make a difference like the team of graduates from Jaguar Land Rover who are planting over 1000 trees in www.forestofhearts.com just get in contact with carolelongden@longden.co.uk or call me on 07774 424404. You can see the range of edibles that will be planted here. You might also want to become a Hedge Fund manager yourself and sponsor a metre or two of hedgerow this Spring. |
